Venice Marathon 2010

The Venice Marathon returns with its 25th edition. This year the Marathon will be held on Sunday, October 24th leaving the starting line at 9:15 am .
The course is flat and fast with a spectacular finish when the athletes, crossing the lagoon, enter the historic part of Venice and run the last three kilometers through the unique surroundings of the lagoon city, crossing the Grand Canal on a floating bridge built specifically for the marathon. The starting line is in Stra and the course follows the. The course River Brenta, passing the ancient Venetian noble villas.
The marathon then crosses Mestre and runs for 3 kilometers through the huge San Giuliano park to enter Venice on the Libertà bridge. After running along St. Mark's Square and the Doge Palace, the marathon reaches the finish line on the Riva Sette Martiri dock.
This year the Venice marathon also provides to the pacemaker teams, groups of athletes (Pacers) who help runner finish the marathon with a set time. Pacemakers are available for a variety of times between 2h 50' up to 6h.
At the end there is Exposport that is the Venice marathon Headquarters, Sponsor Village and athlete reception. The sports city housing all the sector's most popular manufacturers and organizations where athletes can try out the new innovations and meet top runners, that will be in Venice Mestre, in the San Giuliano park, from October 21 - 23, 2010.
